Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, mid Barton Street, 2023. Painted by Laurie Cousins and me.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust put in planters up Barton Street in Gloucester, a kind of wildlife corridor, and got me to paint a mural behind one and repaint some street furniture next to another.

The theme was to reflect Gloucestershire wildlife and the multi cultural nature of the street where 70 different langauages are said to be spoken by residents. I went for classic floral patterns from around the world interspersed with a few local plants and animals enjoying the patterns.

There wasn't much colour or greenery up the mile long Barton Street, and people were loving seeing bright colours the moment we started base coating the background.

A lot of children live up the street, and I think they particularily liked seeing the animals, some parents had to make detours up the road so the kids could see the latest ones.

Laurie my son has been helping me paint a few murals a year for a couple of years, his drawing of animals is better than mine so I left them to him.
